About Section 2 Athletics

We are Section 2 of the NYSPHSAA, Inc. (New York State Public High School Athletic Association).  The NYSPHSAA is the central organization of schools joined together on a state-wide basis, responsible for governing interscholastic athletic activities and programs for boys and girls in grades 7-12 in its member schools.  NYSPHSAA is geographically divided into 11 “Sections”, to administer athletic programs for member schools.
 
Section 2 of the NYSPHSAA, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization with 94-member high school/districts with a combined student enrollment of over 165,000.  Most of our schools are public.  Additionally, we have 14 private, parochial, charter and special act school members.  Our yearly student-athlete participation is around 56,000, competing in 30 different sports.  The geographical boundaries of Section 2 are as follows:  Northern Districts – Bolton, Lake George, Whitehall, North Warren; Southern Districts – Catskill, Hudson, Taconic Hills, New Lebanon; Western Districts – St. Johnsville, Fort Plain, Cobleskill-Richmondville, and our Eastern boundary is the New York State line.
